What Are Warts?

Warts are caused by certain strains of the human papilloma virus (HPV). With numerous different strains of HPV, this causes different types of warts.

The common wart virus is transmitted by touch. It can take a wart as long as 2 to 6 months to develop after skin has been exposed to the virus.
